About Treasures on the Prairie

Old Corral fend antiques staged all over it

What to Expect

Never been to a miles long garage sale before? Well, here is what you can expect. Buyers come in from not just the local area but also from the surrounding states. Professional buyers such as antique dealers, collectors and flea market vendors bring trailers and shop from morning until night.

But it isn’t just your neighbors having the garage sales that see the sales. Although some folks will shop in just one town, many will shop the days leading up to the sale as well. They will come and stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants, they will purposely look for businesses that have been advertised in the Treasures On The Prairie (TOTP) downloadable Guidebook and they will shop the sales advertised by the local businesses. (Businesses that choose to be placed on the citywide map will be assigned a number and provided a corresponding TOTP Numbered Sign to display in their window the weekend of the event.)

With large sales in other states, we have seen that it becomes a GREAT time for civic organizations and student organizations, churches, and nonprofits to hold food fundraisers, sale fundraisers, and other events that coincide with the garage sale weekend. It isn’t just the local retail, hotel, and service businesses that benefit on sale weekends, it's the entire community!

How to Register & Advertise

Treasures on the Prairie will create a downloadable multipage TOTP Guidebook, featuring all registered garage sales, including their address, days and hours of sale and merchandise description for only a $5 registration fee. Registered garage sales will be numbered and featured on a citywide map in the Guidebook. Additionally, registered garage sales will receive corresponding TOTP Numbered Sign to display at their garage sale location the weekend of the event.

Local businesses will have the opportunity to place themselves on the citywide map for a $5 registration and/or purchase print advertising in the Guidebook. Special sales, sidewalk sales, food specials, and special room rates are encouraged by businesses and can be included in your advertisement design in the Guidebook. Businesses located in multiple cities will need to specify which city they wish to have their advertisement listed in the Guidebook.

Guidebooks will be available for download and purchase through the Treasures on the Prairie Registration page. Businesses that purchase advertising in the Guidebook will also be featured on the Registration page and Facebook page leading up to the weekend of the event. If businesses cannot provide a print ready advertisement, then an additional advertising design fee of $25 is added to the ad registration price.
